The Single Diaries: Date Yourself

A few years ago, I really wanted to be in a relationship. It's kinda funny to think about it now because I'm still single and being in a romantic relationship is not my priority although it would be lovely to be in one.

Thinking about it, I guess I just wanted to feel loved and for some reason, I guess I thought having a boyfriend would give me that.

The thing is, though, what good is it for another human to love me if I don't love myself too? What good is it for someone to try to get to know me if I don't already know myself? What good is it to yearn for the feeling of being loved whilst ignoring the fact the Someone already loves me?

Date yourself.

Dating yourself is a fun experience. It enables you to grow and learn more about yourself which is very important in living a healthy life and just might increase the chances of you ending up in a healthy relationship in future as you won't need to rely on someone's presence at all times to be happy.

Dating yourself does not mean that you have to go on a date fast. It means that when you are not in a romantic relationship, you learn more about yourself, the things you like and you learn to be happy whilst not being romantically attached to someone.

Here are ways I have dated myself and ways you can do so too:

The Single Diaries: Introduction

Early in the week, I was on the tube (London Underground/metro/subway), which is a place where I get ideas for what to blog about and save for future reference (when I actually have time on my hands to blog) and I happened to type up on my phone, "The Single Diaries," which was an idea for a new segment on the blog where I, and possibly a few guest bloggers, can freely talk about things we have learnt from being single and things others can learn from it.

After getting off the tube, I honestly forgot about this idea as I had a long day at uni and that repeated every since.

"ANYWAYS"..... I saw some headlines about a Tiwa Savage interview and put off watching the interview because in general, I am not a fan of Nigerian music and I know little to nothing about Nigerian musicians. However, after seeing a Facebook post by a friend talking about the interview and tips for single people, I remembered what I typed and saved on my phone and I decided to listen to the video while I work. I'm 23mins into the 45mins long interview and yeah.....real soon, The Single Diaries is going to be a new segment on this blog.

I will try my best to pre-write blog entries whenever I'm free (or on the tube) and talk to you all about this because I'm single and I haven't always been cool with that although I have never wanted to date just anyone for the sake of not being single. In this segment, I will share my story with you and I will let you know what I have learnt from being single, what you can learn from it too and how you can see that being single, right now, is not the most horrible thing in the world.

I hope you enjoy this new segment/series.

Food Friday: The Cousin Anne-Inspired Salad

Hello again!

So sorry for my inconsistent timing with the Food Fridays.

If you follow me on Instagram you would be have been expecting this recipe. This is a salad that I have eaten practically every day for almost a whole week now. I have it as a second part to my dinner and it tastes so good!

I decided to call this 'The Cousin Anne-Inspired Salad,' because it was inspired by a salad my aunt made for me which she said that my cousin had made for her some day and everyone loved it. This is not 100% my cousin's recipe as hers contains dairy (which I'm allergic to) and I added ingredients to the recipe.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!

Food Friday!!: Easy Quick "J-Rice" Burrito

I know I missed a Food Friday and I am so sorry about that. I need to set reminders for myself as I am so out of routine, at the moment.

This week's Food Friday recipe is not a conventional one. As a matter of fact, it raises quite a number of eyebrows, but I promise you, it tastes pretty good. It was inspired by both a Nigerian and a Mexican dish and...well....you just have to try it! :)

Living In London

As most of you know, I have been living in London for about 7 months now. However, I have never really blogged about my experience so here it goes!

London has been a pretty interesting place for me to live in with the amount of noise, people and ways of getting around. It took me months to get used to the sound of police cars, drunk people outside and motorbike and car drivers revving up their engines at night. As a matter of fact, returning to London after a few days away is a struggle as I have to get used to the noise (and the smell) all over again.

Thinking Out Loud: I Want To Do More With My Life

I just decided to start a new segment called, "Thinking Out Loud," which will feature just a bunch of rambling, on my part, as as the title suggests, I will be doing a lot of thinking whilst writing and I'll just pour my thoughts out on this page.

Okay! That's a quick explanation of why the title starts with, "Thinking Out Loud." Now, it's time to think.
